Zoo Tycoon review for Xbox One
Sep. 17, 2020

When Zoo Tycoon first came out in 2013, it received a mixed reception. The game's immersive atmosphere received praise, especially when it came to dealing with animals, but was generally unsatisfactory thanks to an incredibly poor user interface and a lack of customization options for your zoo. .

The developers relaunched the title on Xbox One in an attempt to solve many problems with the first version of the game. While they were successful in some areas, they also failed in others. Overall though, Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection is a wonderful improvement over the original version.

Create your own animal kingdom

In terms of gameplay, Zoo Tycoon offers three modes: Free Form, Challenge, and Campaign. At Freeform, you have unlimited money and you can build the zoo of your dreams from scratch. Challenge mode tests your business skills by giving you a variety of tasks that you can complete in a short amount of time. Finally, the campaign mode offers different scenarios at various levels that you can manage effectively.

Presentation: music, images and sounds

The images in Zoo Tycoon are simple but nice. The colors are soft and warm and help create a welcoming and friendly environment that your zoo can rely on. Additionally, relaxing music plays properly in the background to create positive ambient noise while you manage or experiment with your settings.

Performance: disappointing varnish levels

For a remake, Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection is missing on average. Since the game opts for a cartoonish aesthetic, the title was probably poorly optimized. Frame rate issues and annoying issues are common. Interestingly, these problems did not exist in the 2013 version. Everything that has changed between then and now has clearly created problems.

conclusion

Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection is ultimately a positive improvement over the first version of the game in 2013. Despite adding performance issues and insufficient attempts to resolve the game's UI issues, this new version of the game offers a pleasant family experience.
